God Saw You Getting Tired
God Saw You Getting Tired was written in 1939 by Frances M. Coelho for her mother, Frances Medeiros. She took it out again on the 1st anniversary of my father’s death. I got to change 1-1/2 lines, so she wanted my name on the copyright too. I loved that. Because so many people were taking credit for the authorship, luckily, Mom had the forethought to do a poor man’s copyright, back in 1939! That is the only reason she was able to get this copyright – a postal stamp with the date on the unopened envelope. The Copyright of this poem belongs to Frances and Kathleen Coelho.
God Saw You Getting Tired
God saw that she was getting tired,
A cure was not to be.
So he put His arms around her
And whispered, ”Come with Me.”
With tearful eyes, we watched her suffer.
And saw her fade away.
Although we loved her dearly,
We could not make her stay.
A golden heart stopped beating.
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes ”the best”
