Prayer is part discipline, and discipline is painful at first until one’s faculties and habits begin to fall in line. We must be careful to not use exterior activities as a reason for not having a daily habit of prayer.
We have collected some of the best prayers for motherhood to use in request to God. May these prayers for safety bring you comfort and peace of mind. May these prayers for strength encourage your spirit and strengthen your faith.

Prayer for Motherhood #1
Dear Lord, You have been pleased to give all human beings the joy of having a mother, one who works with You to give them life and bring them to human adulthood.
You have given followers of your Son the added joy of a faithful mother, who works with You to give supernatural life to a child and to bring up that child to adulthood.
Over the centuries there have been countless such mothers—heroic, courageous, loving, dedicated, and unconquerable. Most of these mothers are unsung in the eyes of the world; they must be content with little things: a smile, a thank you, and a token of remembrance.
In your eyes, however, they are of inestimable worth. Your Word in the Holy Book uses a mother’s love to describe your overwhelming love for your people.
Dear Lord, let me honor my mother if she is living and remember her in prayer if she is dead. Pour down your grace on her and on all mothers on this day dedicated to them.
Amen.
Prayer for Motherhood #2
Good St. Gerard, powerful intercessor before the throne of God, wonder-worker of our day, I call upon you and seek your aid. You know that our marriage has not as yet been blessed with a child and how much my husband and I desire this gift. Please present our fervent pleas to the Creator of life from whom all parenthood proceeds and beseech Him to bless us with a child whom we may raise as His child and heir of heaven. Amen.
A Prayer For Tired Moms
Heavenly Father,
I am starving for holiness. As a deer pants for water, my soul longs after you! I know that my motherhood can only flourish when I am seeking you with my whole heart. The world promises so much, yet only brings destruction and heartache. May I seek you first in all I do!
I lift up my children to you. They are yours, Lord! I know that you have great plans for them and that you love them way more than even I do as their mother. This humbles my heart.
Being a mom is physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausting at times. Give me rest that comes from surrendering to you. Give me a revival within my heart that comes from the touch of your Holy Spirit. Lord Jesus, touch me with your renewing hand!
May you supernaturally turn moments of my day that seem mundane, into glorious moments of worship. I want to see my children as a blessing, not a burden, a delight, not a duty.
Give me a heart that sees the long term, not just the temporary. May the investment I make today bring eternal rewards!
I pray for protection over them from the world. Give me wisdom and discernment to know what to let them partake in, and when to say no.
Help me to respond to my children with kindness, and not anger or resentment. Give me a heart of patient compassion.
Above all else, I pray for their eternal soul. May they come to know you personally as their Savior! May they grow in the knowledge of your Word and follow your leading throughout their life.
In Jesus’s Name,
Amen
A Prayer for Your Emotional Stability
Lord, strengthen me so I can be a parent who strengthens my child. Help me to cling to You so my child will see how to do that, too.
A Prayer in Gratitude for Our Mothers
Good and Gentle God,
we pray in gratitude for our mothers and for all the women of theory who have joined with you in the wonder of bringing forth new life. You who became human through a woman, grant to all mothers the courage they need to face the uncertain future that life with children always brings.
Give them the strength to live and to be loved in return, not perfectly, but humanly.
Give them the faithful support of husband, family and friends as they care for the physical and spiritual growth of their children.
Give them joy and delight in their children to sustain them through the trials of motherhood. Most of all, give them the wisdom to turn to you for help when they need it most.

An Irish blessing
There is but one and only one,
Whose love will fail you never.
One who lives from sun to sun,
With constant fond endeavor.
There is but one and only one
On earth there is no other.
In heaven a noble work was done
When God gave us a Mother.

A Mother’s Love
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can understand our tears,
Can soothe our disappoints
And calm all of our fears.
There are times when only a mother’s love
Can share the joy we feel
When something we’ve dreamed about
Quite suddenly is real.
There are times when only a mother’s faith
Can help us on life’s way
And inspire in us the confidence
We need from day to day.
For a mother’s heart and a mother’s faith
And a mother’s steadfast love
Were fashioned by the angels
And sent from God above.

A Mother’s Day Prayer
I said a Mother’s Day prayer for you
to thank the Lord above
for blessing me with a lifetime
of your tenderhearted love.
I thanked God for the caring
you’ve shown me through the years,
for the closeness we’ve enjoyed
in time of laughter and of tears.
And so, I thank you from the heart
for all you’ve done for me
and I bless the Lord for giving me
the best mother there could be!

To the Moms Who Are
To the Moms who are struggling, to those filled with incandescent joy.
To the Moms who are remembering children who have died, and pregnancies that miscarried.
To the Moms who decided other parents were the best choice for their babies, to the Moms who adopted those kids and loved them fierce.
To those experiencing frustration or desperation in infertility.
To those who knew they never wanted kids, and the ways they have contributed to our shared world.
To those who mothered colleagues, mentees, neighborhood kids, and anyone who needed it.
To those remembering Moms no longer with us.
To those moving forward from Moms who did not show love, or hurt those they should have cared for.
Today is a day to honor the unyielding love and care for others we call ‘Motherhood,’ wherever we have found it and in whatever ways we have found to cultivate it within ourselves.

Prayer to St. Gerard for Motherhood
St. Gerard Majella (April 6, 1726 – October 16, 1755) is the patron saint of expectant mothers, mothers with difficult pregnancies, and those women who hope to conceive and give birth to healthy children. The Feast of Saint Gerard is celebrated on October 16th. Here is a powerful prayer seeking the intercession of St. Gerard for motherhood. May God hear our prayers and grant our desires through the intercession of St. Gerard.
O Good St. Gerard, powerful patron and protector of mothers and of children yet unborn, to thee do I turn in my hour of anxiety. Of thee do I beg the blessings of a happy motherhood. When all human assistance seems to fail, deign to come to my aid by thy powerful intersession at the throne of Almighty God. Beseech the Divine Author of Life to bless me with offspring, that I may raise up children to God in this life who will be heirs to his Heavenly Kingdom in the next. Amen.
A lovely prayer to the patron saint of mother’s and those wishing to conceive.
