Muhammad’s sayings from are also commonly known as Hadith or Ahadith in plural. Hadith is considered a sacred text, which means ‘narrative’ or ‘report’ in Arabic. It is a record of the words and deeds of the , his family and his companions. It is the second most important text in Islam, next to the Quran. Muhammad (محمد; c. 570 – 8 June 632; full name: Muhammad Ibn Abd Allāh Ibn
Abd al-Muttalib) is the central figure of Islam. Muslim beliefs assert that he is the Seal of the Prophets and is Rasool Allah (“Messenger of God”). Archaic spellings of his name in English include: Mohammed, Muhammed, and Mahomet.

Keep yourselves far from envy; because it eats up and takes away good actions, like a fire eats up and burns wood. – Muhammad
Know that victory comes with patience, relief with affliction, and ease with hardship. – Muhammad
Leave me as I leave you, for the people who were before you were ruined because their questions and their differences over the prophets. So, if I forbid you to do something, then keep away from it. And if I order you to do something, then do of it as much as you can. – Muhammad
Leave what makes you doubt in favour of what does not make you doubt, for verily, truth is comforting, while falsehood is disturbing. – Muhammad

Lessen your burden of sin, and you will be less terrified of death. – Muhammad

Little, but sufficient, is better than the abundant and the alluring. – Muhammad
Living among others is a cause for blessing, while seclusion is the cause of torment. – Muhammad
Living thriftily is more profitable than certain trades. – Muhammad
Look at those who are less fortunate than yourselves, not those who are better off than yourselves, so you will not belittle the graces of Allah. – Muhammad
Lucky is the woman whose first child is a daughter. – Muhammad
Lying would negatively influence your livelihood. – Muhammad
Make the orphan come close to you, and be nice to him, and wipe his head, and feed him from your food. That will cause your heart to be soft, and your needs to be fulfilled. – Muhammad
Make things easy for people and not difficult. Give people good news and bring them joy, and do not turn them away. – Muhammad
Many who eat and give thanks, earn greater reward than many who fast and endure. – Muhammad
Martyrdom of Imam Hussain (AS) has ignited the hearts of believers with a pain that will never be subsided. – Muhammad
May Allah curse women who do tattoos and those who have them done, those who have their eyebrows plucked, and those who file their teeth for the purpose of beautification and change the creation of Allah. – Muhammad
More harm is done by fools through foolishness than is done by evil-doers through wickedness. – Muhammad
Most of your sins are because of your tongues. – Muhammad
Most people are led to the Garden by consciousness of God and beauty of character. – Muhammad
Most people take two blessings for granted – health and leisure. – Muhammad
Much silence and a good disposition, there are no two things better than these. – Muhammad
Never hate each other; never be jealous of each other; never boycott each other. Always remain brothers unto each other, o servants of Allah. – Muhammad
Never underestimate Allah’s Hand in all your plans. – Muhammad
No believer reaps greater reward than a virtuous counselor who obeys his leader and advises him for the sake of God. – Muhammad
No child can repay his father unless he finds him enslaved and then buys him and sets him free. – Muhammad
No fatigue, disease, sorrow, sadness, hurt or distress befalls a Muslim – not even the prick he receives from a thorn – except that Allah expiates some of his sins because of it. – Muhammad
No lack is more irritating than ignorance, and no wealth is more advantageous than wisdom. – Muhammad
No lines can be drawn here. Seek knowledge means seek it whether you are a man or a woman. – Muhammad
No man is a believer if he eats his fill while his neighbour goes hungry. – Muhammad
No man is a true believer unless he desires for his brother that, what he desires for himself. – Muhammad
No man will be ruined if he seeks counsel. – Muhammad
No monkery in Islam. – Muhammad
No one becomes prudent without stumbling. – Muhammad
No one becomes wise without experience. – Muhammad
No one can be given a blessing better and greater than patience. – Muhammad
No one is allowed to take from another what he does not allow him of his own free will. – Muhammad

None of you should say: My soul has become evil. He should say: My soul is in bad shape. – Muhammad
None of you should walk wearing one shoe, you should either wear them both or take them off both. – Muhammad
None of you truly believes until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. – Muhammad
None of you truly believes until he wishes for his brother what he wishes for himself. – Muhammad
None of you will truly have faith till he loves me more than his own father, his own children and all of mankind. – Muhammad
Nothing is heavier on the scale of deeds than one’s good manners. – Muhammad
Nothing is weightier on the scale of deeds than one’s good manners. – Muhammad
Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. – Muhammad
O Allah, I seek refuge in Your pleasure from Your wrath and in Your forgiveness from Your punishment. And I seek refuge in You from You; I cannot praise You enough; You are as You have praised Yourself. – Muhammad
O God! I ask You for the means to do good, to avoid evil and to love the poor. – Muhammad
On Judgement Day, God will conceal the faults of those who concealed the faults of others. – Muhammad
On the Day of Judgment, those who were most honest in their words, steadfast in their promises and kindest in their manners, will be the closest ones to me. – Muhammad
On the Day of Resurrection, I will intercede and say, ‘O my Lord! Admit into Paradise (even) those who have faith equal to mustard seed in their hearts.’ – Muhammad
Once the was asked: “Tell us, which action is dearest to Allah?”
He answered: “To say your prayer at its proper time.”
Again he was asked: “What comes next?”
Mohammad said: “To show kindness to parents.”
“Then what?”
he was asked,
“To strive for the cause of Allah!” – Muhammad
Once the was asked: Tell us, which action is dearest to Allah? He answered: To say your prayer at its proper time. Again he was asked: What comes next? Mohammad said: To show kindness to parents. Then what? he was asked, To strive for the cause of Allah! – Muhammad
One who can control himself when in anger, in passion, in fear, and in attraction is safe from the hands of the devil and the fires of hell. – Muhammad
Our religion is strong and durable, so move ahead, but gently – do not make worship a burden. – Muhammad
Paradise is at the feet of the mother. – Muhammad
Part of someone’s being a good Muslim is leaving away that which does not concern him. – Muhammad

Playfulness during childhood will elevate one in wisdom in his/her adulthood. – Muhammad

The faithful are as one person.
If a man complains of a pain in his head, his whole body complains;

Respecting a Muslim elderly is like showing respect to Allah. – Muhammad
Riches are not from abundance of worldly goods, but from a contented mind. – Muhammad

Seek God’s protection from greed – greed leads to disgrace. – Muhammad
Seek knowledge from cradle to the grave. – Muhammad
Serve Allah, as you would if you could see Him; although you cannot see Him, He can see you. – Muhammad
Show compassion to three persons – a wealthy man who has been ruined, a powerful man who has been humbled, and a learned man mocked by fools and dullards. – Muhammad
Silver for silver, gold for gold, barley for barley, wheat for wheat, like for like. – Muhammad
Sleep is the brother of death. – Muhammad
Smiling in your brother’s face is an act of charity.
So is enjoining good and forbidding evil,
aiding the blind and
removing obstacles from the path. – Muhammad

Speak to people according to the development of their consciousness, for if you speak all things to all people, some cannot understand you and so fall into errors! – Muhammad

Spend in charity and do not keep count for then Allah will also keep count in giving your provision. – Muhammad

The bad omen of a woman is her expensive dower and her ill temper. – Muhammad
The believer does not slander, curse, or speak in an obscene or foul manner. – Muhammad
The believer does not taunt others, he does curse others, he does not use profanity, and he does not abuse others. – Muhammad
The best among you are those who have the best manners and character. – Muhammad
The best among you are those who learn the Qur’an and then teach it (to others). – Muhammad
The best among you is the one who doesn’t harm others with his tongue and hands. – Muhammad
The best among you is the one who treats his family best, and I am better than all of you for my family. – Muhammad
The best amongst you are those who bring greatest benefits to many others. – Muhammad
The best amongst you are those with best manners and character. – Muhammad
The best jihad is to speak a word of justice to an oppressive ruler. – Muhammad
The best loved deeds to Allah are the ones that are continuous even if they are not very man. – Muhammad
The best of alms is that, which the right hand gives and the left hand knows not of. – Muhammad
The best of God’s servants are those who when seen remind you of God; and the worst of God’s servants are those who spread tales to do mischief and separate friends, and look for the faults of the good. – Muhammad
The best of the houses is the house where an orphan gets love and kindness. – Muhammad
The best of you are those who feed others and return greetings. – Muhammad
The best part of your religion is the most accommodating. – Muhammad
The best people are those who are most useful to others. – Muhammad
The best person is the one who benefits all human beings.” – Muhammad
The best richness is the richness of the soul. – Muhammad
The cure for ignorance is inquiry. – Muhammad
The cure for ignorance is to question. – Muhammad
The cursed the one who accepts usury and the one who pays it, and the one who records it, and the two persons who stand witness to it. – Muhammad
The dead are tortured in their graves to the point that animals can hear them. – Muhammad
The dwellers of paradise are mostly simple folks. – Muhammad
The earth has been made a place of purification for me and a place of prostration [Masjid]. – Muhammad
The elderly are the sources of mercy and divine blessing. – Muhammad
The Faithful are mirrors, one to the other. – Muhammad
The faithful are tied in kindness and affection together like members of a body, one’s pain and hardship affect the others. – Muhammad
The greatest of richness is the richness of the soul. – Muhammad
The greatest of wealth is the richness of the soul. – Muhammad
The greatest sins come from a lying tongue. – Muhammad
The heard a person lauding another person or praising him too much. Thereupon he said: “You have ruined the man.’’ – Muhammad
The Hour draws near, yet people become more and more greedy for this world; while it eludes their grasps more and more. – Muhammad
The hour will only afflict the most evil of people. – Muhammad
The human being does not fill up any vessel worse than his stomach. – Muhammad
The ink of the scholar is more sacred than the blood of the martyr. – Muhammad
The kind look of a child to his/her parents is as praying in Allah’s regard. – Muhammad
The kindest, most amiable, generous, patient, and just among you is the closest to me in manner. – Muhammad
The likeness of the believers in their mutual love, mercy and affection is that of the body. When one limb of it complains, the rest of the body reacts with sleeplessness and fever. – Muhammad
The merciful will be shown mercy by the most merciful. – Muhammad
The Messenger of Allah once wore a gold ring, then he threw it and said:
“I will never wear it again.” Thus, the people (the Sahaba in following the example of the Prophet) also threw their rings. – Muhammad
The Messenger of God never found fault with food. If he had inclination to eat it, he would eat; and if he disliked it, he would leave it. – Muhammad
The most desired companion is like a perfumer; his/her perfume would reach you, even if he/she didn’t give you anything. – Muhammad
The most disliked action amongst permissible things to Allah is divorce. – Muhammad
The most excellent Jihad is that for the conquest of self. – Muhammad
The most faithful of you are the best mannered. – Muhammad
The most grateful person is the one who thanks people most. – Muhammad
The most miserable man in the world of those meant for Paradise will be dipped once in Paradise. Then he will be asked, “Son of Adam, did you ever face any misery? Did you ever experience any hardship?” So he will say, “No, by God, O Lord! I never faced any misery, and I never experienced any hardship.” – Muhammad
The most perfect believer in faith is the one whose character is finest and who is kindest to his wife. – Muhammad
The Most Perfect Man in his faith among the believers in the one whose Behavior is most excellent and the best of you are those you are the best to their wives. – Muhammad
The Muslim is the brother of his fellow Muslim; he does not wrong him or let him down. – Muhammad
The never refused a gift of perfume. – Muhammad
The night is long: do not shorten it by sleep. The day is fair: do not darken it with wrongdoing. – Muhammad
The one who gets married has completed half of his/her religion. – Muhammad
The paradise is surrounded by hardships & the Hell-Fire is surrounded by temptations. – Muhammad
The people came to the weeping (due to there being a drought).
He said (making supplication): “O Allah! Give us rain which will replenish us, that which is abundant, fertilizing and profitable, and not that which is disastrous; granting it (rain) now without delay.”
He (the narrator) said: “Thereupon the sky became overcast.” – Muhammad
The people said: “O Messenger of Allah, you joke around with us!”
He replied, “But I only speak the truth.” – Muhammad
The people whom I hate the most and who are the farthest from me on the Day of Judgement are those who talk uselessly, and those who put down others, and those who show off when they talk. – Muhammad
The people will not perish until their sins and faults become abundant, and there remains no excuse for them. – Muhammad
The perfect Muslim is not a perfect Muslim, who eats till he is full and leaves his neighbors hungry. – Muhammad
The pious will diminish, one generation after another, until only scraps and chaff remain – and God will pay them no heed. – Muhammad
The poor will enter paradise five hundred years before the rich. – Muhammad
The proof of a Muslim’s sincerity is, that he pays no heed to that, which is not his business. – Muhammad
The Proud will not enter paradise, nor a violent Speaker. – Muhammad
The relationship of the believer with another believer is like (the bricks of) a building, each strengthens the other. Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) illustrated this by interlacing the fingers of both his hands. – Muhammad
The said, Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him speak goodness or remain silent. – Muhammad
The signs of a hypocrite are three:
1. Whenever he speaks, he tells a lie.
2. Whenever he promises, he always breaks it.
3. If you trust him, he proves to be dishonest (e.g. If you
keep something as a trust with him, he will not return it). – Muhammad
The signs of misfortune lie in four conditions: eyes that have never experienced tears, a heart that is cruel and hard, long chains of desires that never end, and wishing for an extremely prolonged life. – Muhammad
The similitude of good company and that of bad company is that of the owner of musk and of the one blowing the bellows. The owner of musk would either offer you some free of charge, or you would buy it from him, or at least you would smell its pleasant odor; and as for the one who blows the bellows(i.e., the blacksmith), he would either burn your clothes or at least you shall have to smell a repugnant smell. – Muhammad
The space of the bow of any one of you in Paradise is better than all that the sun rises upon. – Muhammad
The strong Believer is better and more loved by Allah than the weak Believer, but in both of them there is good. Work hard for that which benefits you and seek help from Allah and do not give up. If you are stricken by misfortune, do not say: “If only I had done such-and-such,” rather say: “Allah has decreed and what Allah wills He does.” For verily, the words: “If only…” open the door to Satan’s works. – Muhammad
The strong is not the one who is physically powerful, but indeed, the one who controls himself when angry. – Muhammad
The strong man is not one who is good at wrestling, but the strong man is one who controls himself in a fit of rage. – Muhammad
The Strong man is not the good wrestler, the strong man is only the one who controls himself when he is angry. – Muhammad
The strong person is not a good wrestler. Rather, the strong person is one who controls himself when he is angry. – Muhammad
The strong person is not the good wrestler. Rather, the strong person is the one who controls himself when he is angry – Muhammad
The strong person is not the one who can wrestle someone else down. The strong person is the one who can control himself when he is angry. – Muhammad
The strongest among you is the one who controls his anger. – Muhammad
The strongest man is the one who, when he gets angry and his face reddens and his hackles rise, is able to defeat his anger. – Muhammad
The superiority of a learned man over one who only worships is like the superiority of the moon when it is full, covering the stars. The learned are the heirs of the prophets who do not leave a legacy of dirhams and dinars but only of knowledge. – Muhammad
The three best things:
to be humble amidst the vicissitudes of fortune;
to pardon when powerful;
and to be generous with no strings attached. – Muhammad
The white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white, except by piety and good action. – Muhammad
The words of “I love you,” said by a man to his wife, will forever be engraved upon the woman’s heart. – Muhammad
The world is a prison for a believer and paradise for a disbeliever. – Muhammad
The world is green and beautiful, and God has appointed you his steward over it. – Muhammad
The worldly comforts are not for me. I am like a traveler, who takes rest under a tree in the shade and then goes on his way. – Muhammad

The worst of lies is to pretend to have seen something which he has not seen. – Muhammad

There are as many ways to God as there are created souls. – Muhammad
There are five activities that I won’t leave off till I’m alive so that they would become part of my tradition. [One of them] is greeting children. – Muhammad
There are many doors to goodness. (Saying) ‘glory to God,’ ‘praise be to God,’ ‘there is no deity but God,’ enjoining good, forbidding evil, removing harm from the road, listening to the deaf (until you understand them), leading the blind, guiding one to the object of his need, hurrying with the strength of one’s legs to one in sorrow who is asking for help, and supporting the weak with the strength of one’s arms – all of these are (forms of) charity prescribed for you. – Muhammad
There are two blessings to which no one gives thanks: security and health. – Muhammad
There is a polish for everything that takes away rust and the polish for the heart is the remembrance of God. – Muhammad

There is never any obscenity in a thing, except that it disfigures it, and there is never any modesty in a thing, except that it adorns it. – Muhammad

There is no good in the companionship of a man who does not regard you the way you regard him. – Muhammad
There is no intelligence better than (good) planning. – Muhammad
There is no lineage better than good character. – Muhammad
There is no obedience in regard to anyone or anything, if (that obedience leads to) disobedience towards Allah. Most certainly, obedience is only in regard to that which is good. – Muhammad
There is no poverty more severe than ignorance. – Muhammad
There is no solitude more anti-social than conceit. – Muhammad
There is no wealth more useful than intelligence. – Muhammad
There is nothing heavier in the scales than good character. – Muhammad
There is reward for kindness to every living thing. – Muhammad
There will be no hatred or resentment among them, their hearts will be as one, and they will glorify God, morning and evening. – Muhammad
There will come a time when holding on to your Deen (religion) will be like holding on to hot coals. – Muhammad
Things will get progressively worse, the world will turn its back on you more and more, and people will become greedier. – Muhammad
Those who are granted a favour, should be grateful. – Muhammad
Those who are held back by their deeds, are not urged on by their lineage. – Muhammad
Those who eat and give thanks, earn greater reward than those who fast and endure. – Muhammad
Those who overburden themselves with their faith will find it overwhelms them. – Muhammad
Those who seek Divine direction will not fail, those who seek good counsel will not regret, and those who practice moderation will not want. – Muhammad
Those who sow good, reap felicity, those who sow evil, reap remorse. – Muhammad
Those who wish to remain safe, should remain silent. – Muhammad
Throwing people to the ground does not make you strong – true strength belongs to those who can control their anger. – Muhammad
To emulate a group of people, is to become one of them. – Muhammad
To give food, and to greet those whom you know and those whom you do not know.” – Muhammad
To overcome evil with good is good, to resist evil by evil is evil. – Muhammad
To savour true belief, you should love people for the sake of God. – Muhammad
To wake up safe and sound in your home, with enough food for the day, is as good as owning the world. – Muhammad
Too much hilarity kills the spirit. – Muhammad
Train your heart to gentleness. – Muhammad
Travel and find health and wealth. – Muhammad
Treat this world as I do, like a wayfarer; like a horseman who stops in the shade of a tree for a time, and then moves on.”– Muhammad
Treat your neighbours in a kind and polite manner. – Muhammad
Truly, the farthest seat from me on the day of resurrection will be the garrulous, those who talk glibly, and those who talk tall.
And who is it that talk tall? The vain-glorious. – Muhammad
Trust Allah but tie your camel. – Muhammad
Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Paradise. A man persists in speaking the truth till he is recorded with Allah as a truthful man. Falsehood leads to transgression and transgression leads to Hell-fire. A man continues to speak falsehood till he is recorded with Allah as a great liar”. – Muhammad
Try to set aside a secret store of good deeds. – Muhammad
Two hungry wolves do not wreak as much havoc to a flock of sheep as love of glory and wealth to a Muslim’s faith. – Muhammad
Upon you are the two that bring healing: Honey and the Qur’an. – Muhammad
Verily, Allah does not look at your bodies nor your appearance, but rather He looks at your hearts and your deeds. – Muhammad
Verily, God does not look to your bodies or your attire nor to your appearances but He looks to your hearts and your deeds. – Muhammad
Verily, God has revealed to me that you should adopt humility. – Muhammad
Verily, God is Compassionate and is fond of compassion, and He gives to the compassionate what He does not give to the harsh. – Muhammad
Verily, it is one of the respects to Allah to honor an old man. – Muhammad
Verily, there is heavenly reward for every act of kindness done to a living animal. – Muhammad
Visit the sick and follow the funeral bier – they will remind you of the Hereafter. – Muhammad
Visit the sick, feed the hungry, and free the captive. – Muhammad
What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of human beings, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the sufferings of the injured. – Muhammad
What has reached you was never meant to miss you, and what has missed you was never meant to reach you. – Muhammad
Whatever is prayed for at the time of breaking the fast is granted and never refused. – Muhammad
When a husband and wife look at each other with love, Allah looks at both of them with mercy. – Muhammad & Tirmidhi
When a man goes out of his house to his masjid, one foot records a good deed and the other erases a bad deed. – Muhammad
When a man marries, he has fulfilled half of (his) faith. So let him remain conscious of God regarding the remaining half. – Muhammad
When a thing disturbs the peace of your heart give it up. – Muhammad
When a worshipper stands to pray, all of his sins are placed upon his head and shoulders, so when be bows or prostrates, his sins fall off. – Muhammad
When a youth shows respect to the elder because he is old, God ordains that people show him respect when he grows old. – Muhammad
When asked what was most excellent in a human being, he answered, “A friendly disposition.” – Muhammad
When oppression exists, even the bird dies in its nest. – Muhammad
When someone spends on his family seeking His Reward for it from Allah, it is counted as a charity from him. – Muhammad
When something weighs on your conscience, give it up. – Muhammad
When the month of Ramadan commences, the gates of Paradise are opened up and the gates of Hell are closed and the devils are shackled. – Muhammad
When those deserving of Paradise would enter Paradise, the Blessed and the Exalted would ask: Do you wish Me to give you anything more? They would say: Hast Thou not brightened our faces? Hast Thou not made us enter Paradise and saved us from Fire? He would lift the veil, and of things given to them nothing would be dearer to them than the sight of their Lord, the Mighty and the Glorious. – Muhammad
When two persons are together, two of them must not whisper to each other, without letting the third hear; because it would hurt him. – Muhammad
When you are three persons, then two of you shouldn’t whisper excluding the third person, for that would grieve him. – Muhammad
When you see a person who has been given more than you in money and beauty, then look to those who have been given less.” – Muhammad

Whenever a believer gives alms in kindness, God watches over his children in kindness. – Muhammad
Whenever a man forgives a transgression, God elevates his standing. – Muhammad
Whenever Allah desires the best for a family, He raises their awareness about the religion. The younger ones respect the elders, they observe moderation in their expenses, and they would know about their faults to make them right. – Muhammad
Which charity is best? — That which you give while you fear poverty. – Muhammad
‘Which charity is best?’ He replied: ‘That which you give while you fear poverty.’ – Muhammad
‘Who are the learned?’ Those who put into practice what they know. – Muhammad
‘Who is the most favored of God?’ He from whom the greatest good comes to His creature. – Muhammad
Whoever Allah has given two daughters and is kind towards them, they will be a reason for him entering Paradise. – Muhammad
Whoever ascribes to me what I have not said then let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire! – Muhammad
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him say something good or keep quiet. – Muhammad
Whoever believes in Allah and the last day, should speak what is good or keep silent. – Muhammad
Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones (tongue) and what is between his two legs (private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him. – Muhammad
Whoever claims something that does not belong to him; he is not one of us, so let him take his place in Hell. – Muhammad
Whoever does not express his gratitude to people will never be grateful to God. – Muhammad
Whoever Follows a Path in the pursuit of knowledge Allah will make a path to Jannah easy for him. – Muhammad
Whoever has land and wants to sell it, let him offer it to his neighbor. – Muhammad
Whoever invades people´s privacy corrupts them. – Muhammad
Whoever is kind, Allah will be kind to him; therefore be kind to man on the earth. He who is in heaven will show mercy on you. – Muhammad
Whoever makes all his tasks one task, God will help him in his other concerns. – Muhammad
Whoever prays twelve rakats during the night and day, a house will be built for him in paradise. Four before dhuhr, and two after, two rakats after maghrib, two rakats after ishaa, and two rakats before fajr prayer. – Muhammad
Whoever restrains his anger when he has the power to show it, God will give him a great reward. – Muhammad
Whoever saves a believer’s reputation will surely be rewarded by heaven. – Muhammad
Whoever wishes to be delivered from the Fire and enter the Garden should die with faith in God and the Last Day and should treat the people as he wishes to be treated by them. – Muhammad
Whomever I am his/her leader (Mawla), then Ali is his/her leader (Mawla). – Muhammad
Whosoever gives me a guarantee to safeguard what is between his jaws (speak only good) and what is between his legs, I shall guarantee him Heaven. – Muhammad
Wish for others what you wish for yourself and you will be a true believer. – Muhammad
Wish for others whatever you wish for yourself. – Muhammad
Worldly goods do not constitute wealth – true wealth is the wealth of the soul. – Muhammad
You ask for a piece of advice. I tell you : ‘Do not get angry.’ He is strong who can withhold anger. – Muhammad
You do not do evil to those who do evil to you, but you deal with them with forgiveness and kindness. – Muhammad
You will die the way you lived. – Muhammad
You will not enter paradise until you believe,
and you will not believe until you love one another.
Let me guide you to something in the doing of which you will love one another.
Give a greeting to everyone among you. – Muhammad
You will not enter paradise until you have faith. And you will not complete your faith until you love one another. – Muhammad
Your sustenance (rizq) will come…. The Messenger of Allah said, Indeed, sustenance (rizq) searches for the slave more than his appointed time of death searches for him. – Muhammad
On Character
Remember your own faults when you want to mention of others. – Muhammad
Speak good or remain silent. – Muhammad
Never underestimate any good deed. – Muhammad
The loveliest beauty is the beauty of the character. – Muhammad
Good character is half of faith. – Muhammad
Good character will be placed in the celestial scale first. – Muhammad
Whoever Allah wants good for him, he puts them to test. he puts them through difficulties; like a diamond or gold that has to be burnt after which anything bad from it is removed so that what you have is the pure diamond or the pure gold. – Muhammad
Speak a good word or remain silent. – Muhammad,
God does not look at your forms and possessions but he looks at your hearts and your deeds. – Muhammad
On Love
Whoever loves to meet God, God loves to meet him. – Muhammad
Exchange gifts, you will love one another. – Muhammad
You will never enter paradise until you have faith and you will not complete your faith until you love one another. – Muhammad
Love for one’s country is part of faith. – Muhammad
Love your friend with some restraint, for the day may come when he is your enemy. Hate your enemy with some restraint, for the day may come when he is your friend. – Muhammad
Whoever loveth to meet God, God loveth to meet him. – Muhammad
Loving Humanity is second only to having faith in Allah as one of the best deeds in Islam. – Muhammad
He who loves my sunnah, has loved me and he who loves me will be with me in Paradise. – Muhammad
Do you love your creator Love your fellow-beings first. – Muhammad
Do you think you love your Creator? Love your fellow-creature first. – Muhammad
Desire not the world, and God will love you. Desire not what others have, and they will love you. – Muhammad
A person will be those whom he loves (in the Hereafter). – Muhammad
On Parents
He, who wishes to enter paradise at the best gate, must please his father and mother. – Muhammad
A man asked: “Oh, Messenger of Allah! Who among people is most deserving of my fine treatment ?”
He replied: “Your mother.” He asked: “Then who?”
He answered: “Your mother.”
The man asked: “Then who?”
The said: “Your mother.”
“Then who?” The man asked.
“Your father,” replied the Prophet. – Muhammad
Asmaa` Bint Abi Bakr that she said: “My mother came to me while she was still a pagan during the time of the and so I asked his advice, saying: “My mother has come to see me and she is asking something of me; should I treat her well?”
He replied: “Yes, treat your mother well.” – Muhammad
Whoever delights his/her parents, has delighted Allah and the one who displeases them has displeased Allah. – Muhammad
On Racism
A white has no superiority over a black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good actions. – Muhammad
Be careful because you are not better than people who are a different color, unless you are better in piety. – Muhammad
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. – Muhammad
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab. – Muhammad
All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves. – Muhammad
On Women
Women are not created weaker but more generous than men. They are created more beautiful and less fierce, as beauty hates to hurt and harm others. That is why they seem weak to people, but in reality they are not. Angels are the strongest of created beings, and women are closer to the angelic nature than men, as they are readier than men to carry angelic light. – Muhammad
Women are held dearer in Allah’s regard than men, and Allah will highly reward any man who brings joy to his Mahram women. – Muhammad
Women are the twin halves of men. – Muhammad
I command you to treat women kindly… – Muhammad
A good man treats women with honour. – Muhammad
Only an honorable man treats women with honour and integrity, and only a bile and dishonourable man humiliates and degrades women. – Muhammad
The best of you are those who are best to his wife. – Muhammad
The best of you are those who are best to the women. – Muhammad
On Business
Pay a worker before his sweat dries. – Muhammad
An honest living is an obligation second only to worship. – Muhammad
Blessed are those who earn an honest living; whose hearts are pure, whose actions are noble, and from whom no one need fear any evil. – Muhammad
There is no worry, worse than debt. – Muhammad
Lessen your burden of debt and you will live free. – Muhammad
Debt disfigures devotion. – Muhammad
A promise is a debt. – Muhammad
Beware of debts – it distresses at night and humiliates by day. – Muhammad
Making an honest living is a form of Jihad. – Muhammad
A good friend and a bad friend are like a perfume-seller and a blacksmith: The perfume-seller might give you some perfume as a gift, or you might buy some from him, or at least you might smell its fragrance. As for the blacksmith, he might singe your clothes, and at the very least you will breathe in the fumes of the furnace. – Muhammad
On Compassion and Mercy
Winning people’s hearts is not the hardest of tasks. – Muhammad
Since the Divine is merciful, his creatures should show mercy to one another. – Muhammad
Merciful will be shown mercy by Allah. – Muhammad
Mercy and compassion should surround all living beings. – Muhammad
Mercy started with creation. – Muhammad
Compassion is the key to success. – On Compassion and Mercy. – Muhammad
A mother’s mercy is only a glimpse of that of the Divine. – Muhammad
On Education
A father gives his child nothing better than a good education. – Muhammad
A father gives nothing better than good education. – Muhammad
The best gift from a father to his child is Education and Upbringing. – Muhammad
Verily, a man teaching his child manners is better than giving one bushel of grain in alms. – Muhammad
The Believer is not stung from the same hole twice. – Muhammad
Explanation: A true Believer always learns from his mistakes.
The ink of the learned is holier than the blood of the martyr. – Muhammad
The most generous among you is the one who spreads what he has learned among people. – Muhammad
What is learned during youth, like an engraving on a stone, will never be forgotten. – Muhammad
‘Who are the learned?’ Those who practice what they know. – Muhammad
The best among you is he who learns the Quran and teaches it. – Muhammad
Half of learning, is asking good questions. – Muhammad
Do not wish to be like anyone except in two cases. The first is a person, whom Allah has given wealth & he spends it righteously; (the second is) the one whom Allah has given wisdom (the Holy Quran) and he acts according to it and teaches it to others. – Muhammad
One hour’s teaching is better than a whole night of prayer. – Muhammad
On God
Allah (God) is the greatest friend. – Muhammad
Allah created a hundred mercies, then He placed one mercy among his creation. By means of this mercy they are able to show mercy among one another and with Allah are ninety-nine mercies. – Muhammad
Allah did not send me to be harsh, or cause harm, but he sent me to teach and make things easy. – Muhammad
Allah does not look at your appearance or your possessions; but He looks at your heart and your deeds. – Muhammad
Allah has revealed to me, that you must be humble. No one should boast over one another, and no one should oppress another. – Muhammad
Allah is gentle & loves gentleness in all matters. – Muhammad
Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness in all things. – Muhammad
Allah is One and likes Unity. – Muhammad
Allah will cover up on the day of resurrection the defects (faults) of the one who covers up the faults of the others in this world. – Muhammad
Allah will not be merciful to those who are not merciful to mankind. – Muhammad
Allah will not give mercy to anyone, except those who give mercy to other creatures. – Muhammad
God does not look upon your bodies and appearances. He looks upon your hearts and your deeds. – Muhammad
God enjoins you to treat women well, for they are your mothers, daughters, aunts. – Muhammad
God fills with belief and a sense of security those who curb rage when they could act upon it. – Muhammad
God forgives the lapses of those who wake up intending no one any harm. – Muhammad
God graces His worshippers with nothing lovelier than the chastity of belief and behavior. – Muhammad
God has not created anything better than reason, or anything more perfect or more beautiful than reason. – Muhammad
God is gentle and loves gentleness in all things. – Muhammad
God is gentle and loves gentleness. – Muhammad
God is merciful to those who show mercy to others. – Muhammad
God is pleased with those who offer praise after every bite and sip. – Muhammad
God it is who gives: I am only a distributor. – Muhammad
God provides sustenance to those who seek knowledge. – Muhammad
God rewards those who bear hardship with fortitude. – Muhammad
God was asked why creation came into being. I was a hidden treasure. I longed to be known, so I created all of creation. – Muhammad
God will be kind, to those who are kind to the community. – Muhammad
God will come to aid those who come to aid others. – Muhammad
God will safeguard those who safeguard a brother in his absence. – Muhammad
God’s favourite deeds are those performed regularly, even the small ones. – Muhammad
God’s love is assured for those who curb their anger when provoked. – Muhammad
God’s most beloved servants conceal their piety. – Muhammad
God’s religion is moderate and righteous. – Muhammad
Verily Allah does not look to your faces and your wealth but He looks to your heart and to your deeds. – Muhammad
Verily, Allah is compassionate and is fond of compassion, and He gives to the compassionate what he does not give to the harsh. – Muhammad
Verily, Allah is mild and is fond of mildness, and He gives to the mild what He does not give to the harsh. – Muhammad
When Allah chooses to favor someone, He makes him the source of satisfying other people’s needs. – Muhammad
When Allah loves a servant he tests him. – Muhammad
When Allah wants to pour His blessings upon you, He endows you with a Good Friend. – Muhammad
When Allah wishes good for someone, He bestows upon him the understanding of Deen (religion). – Muhammad
On Environment
Living green is living the spirit of Islam. – Muhammad
The hour will come when children are disobedient; when drought scorches the earth, when the contemptible inundate the land, when the noble are few, when the young are insolent to their elders, and the contemptible insolent to the noble. – Muhammad
On Happiness
Happy are those who find fault with themselves instead of finding fault with others. – Muhammad
Happy is the man who avoids hardship, but how fine is the man who is afflicted and shows endurance. – Muhammad
Happy is the person who finds fault with himself instead of finding fault with others. – Muhammad
On Life
To strive for the cause of Allah from daybreak to noon and sunset is better than the goods and enjoyment of the whole worldly life. – Muhammad
Half of living well, is planning well. – Muhammad
Live in this world as if you are a guest. – Muhammad
Live in this world as if you are a stranger or a wayfarer – Muhammad
On Knowledge and Wisdom
Knowledge from which no benefit is derived is like a treasure out of which nothing is spent in the cause of God. – Muhammad
The search for knowledge is a sacred duty imposed upon every Muslim. Go in search of knowledge, even to China. – Muhammad
The seeking of knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim. – Muhammad
Whoever follows a path seeking knowledge, Allah will his path to Paradise easy. – Muhammad
Whoever shares this knowledge, he will have a house in front of me in Jannah. – Muhammad
Whoever treads a path seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy for him the path to Paradise. – Muhammad, Ibn Majah and Imam Muslim
Gentleness is the pinnacle of wisdom. – Muhammad
Silence shows wisdom, but few oblige. – Muhammad
Secure knowledge by writing it down. – Muhammad
Seek knowledge from the Cradle to the Grave;– Muhammad
The pursuit of knowledge is obligatory on every Muslim. – Muhammad
Those who do not benefit from their knowledge, are harmed by their ignorance. – Muhammad
Those who seek and find knowledge get two rewards; those who seek and do not find it get one reward. – Muhammad
Two kinds of people never have enough – seekers of knowledge and seekers of worldly gain. – Muhammad
Wisdom and power follow endurance and patience. – Muhammad
On Spirituality
Truth leads to piety and piety leads to Heaven. – Muhammad
Piety is here, while saying so, he (the Prophet) pointed towards his chest. – Muhammad
There is no worship better than reflection. – Muhammad
An hour of contemplation is better than a year of prayer. – Muhammad
Contemplation for an hour is better than formal worship for sixty years. – Muhammad
A Muslim who meets with others and shares their burdens is better than one who lives a life of seclusion and contemplation. – Muhammad
On Hereafter
Conduct your worldly affairs with integrity and work hard for the Hereafter. – Muhammad
Those who are certain of the hereafter give generously. – Muhammad
Whoever believes in one God and the Hereafter, let him speak what is good or remain silent. – Muhammad
On Children
I love children. They are content with the least of things, gold and mud are the same in their eyes. – Muhammad
Allah’s love and praise be upon the one who helps his/her children by doing good to them, caring for, and educating them. – Muhammad
Be generous with your children and teach them well. – Muhammad
Honor your children and thus improve their manners. – Muhammad
Be childlike with children. – Muhammad
Love children and be kind to them and keep your promises to them since they only know you as their providers. – Muhammad
On Virtues
Those who are patient in adversity and forgive wrongs are the doers of excellence. – Muhammad
The best of houses is the house where an orphan gets love and kindness. – Muhammad
Modesty brings nothing except good. – Muhammad
Every religion has a distinctive virtue and the distinctive virtue of Islam is modesty. – Muhammad
I was delegated as a to perfect moral virtues. – Muhammad
Indeed, I have been sent to revive the virtues and good morals. – Muhammad
None is higher than the other unless he is higher in virtue. – Muhammad
Strive always to excel in virtue and truth. – Muhammad
Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever has not kindness has not faith. – Muhammad
Kindness is a mark of faith, and whoever is not kind has no faith. – Muhammad
Kindness is a mark of faith, whoever is not; has no faith. – Muhammad
Patience is the key to content. – Muhammad
Patience is the key to contentment. – Muhammad
Patience is the key to well-being. – Muhammad
Charity begins at home. – Muhammad
Charity does not diminish wealth. – Muhammad
Carrying through an act of charity is even better than embarking on it. – Muhammad
Every religion has its distinct characteristic, and the distinct characteristic of Islam is modesty. – Muhammad
Be moderate in seeking worldly things – they come naturally to those for whom they have been created for. – Muhammad
On Good Deeds
Once a man, who was passing through a road, found a branch of a tree with thorns obstructing it. The man removed the thorns from the way. Allah thanked him and forgave his sins. – Muhammad
Do good deeds properly, sincerely and moderately and know that your deeds will not make you enter Paradise, and that the most beloved deed to Allah’s is the most regular and constant even though it were little. – Muhammad
A good deed done to an animal is as meritorious as a good deed done to a human being, while an act of cruelty to an animal is a bad as an act of cruelty to a human being. – Muhammad
Deeds depend upon intentions and every person will get that which he intended. So whoever migrates for worldly benefits or for a woman to marry, his emigration will be for that which he migrated to. – Muhammad
On War and Peace
Call out the peace greeting and you will know peace. – Muhammad
The best of Islam is to greet with peace those you know and those you do not know. – Muhammad
The Source of Peace (As-Salam) is one of the Names of Allah Almighty which Allah has placed in the earth. Therefore, spread the greetings of peace among yourselves. – Muhammad
A believer does not kill. – Muhammad
The most excellent jihad is that for the conquest of the self. – Muhammad
The Most Excellent Jihad is the Conquest of One’s Self. – Muhammad
The best form of Jihad is the word of truth to a tyrannical ruler. – Muhammad
The Holy Warrior is he who struggles with himself. – Muhammad
The greatest Jihad (struggle/striving) is to battle your own soul, to fight the evil within yourself. – Muhammad
The greatest jihad in to battle you own soul. to fight the evil within yourself. – Muhammad
Whoever kills himself with an iron instrument will be carrying it forever in hell. Whoever takes poison and kills himself will forever keep sipping that poison in hell. Whoever jumps off a mountain and kills himself will forever keep falling down in the depths of hell. – Muhammad
Muhammad commanded the following uncompromising rules of war.
O people! I charge you with ten rules; learn them well…for your guidance in the battlefield! Do not commit treachery, or deviate from the right path. You must not mutilate dead bodies. Neither kill a child, nor a woman, nor an aged man. Bring no harm to the trees, nor burn them with fire, especially those which are fruitful. Slay not any of the enemy’s flock, save for your food. You are likely to pass by people who have devoted their lives to monastic services; leave them alone. – Muhammad
On Prayers and Praying
God, accept my repentance, wash away my offences, and answer my prayer. – Muhammad
God, choose and single out what is good for me. – Muhammad
God, forgive my sins – be they mistaken or deliberate, hidden or public, by omission or commission. – Muhammad
God, grant me a speedy cure, fortitude to bear Your trials, and the passage from this world into Your Mercy. – Muhammad
God, grant me the protection You grant the newborn. – Muhammad
God, I ask You for a tranquil life, a pure death, and a return to You free from disgrace and dishonor. – Muhammad
God, I seek refuge with You from knowledge without benefit; from a heart without humility, from a prayer unheard and from an appetite unsated. I seek refuge with You from the evil of all four. – Muhammad
God, I seek refuge with you from misleading or being misled; from demeaning or being demeaned, from tormenting or being tormented and from wronging or being wronged. – Muhammad
God, make my soul mindful of You and cleanse it of sins – You cleanse it best, since You are the Master and Benefactor. – Muhammad
The first matter that the slave will be brought to account for on the day of judgement is the prayer. If it is sound, then the rest of his deeds will be sound. And if it is bad, then the rest of his deeds will be bad. – Muhammad
The first stage of worship is silence. – Muhammad
The first thing which will be judged among a man’s deeds on the Day of Resurrection is the Prayer. If this is in good order then he will succeed and prosper but if it is defective then he will fail and will be a loser. – Muhammad
The best of deeds is the observance of prayer at its proper time and to treat one’s parents kindly. – Muhammad
God, You are Forgiving and love forgiving – forgive me my sins. – Muhammad
God, You have made me beautiful – make my character beautiful too. – Muhammad
Never underestimate the optional prayers because “Optional prayers” will compensate the obligatory prayers on the judgement day. – Muhammad
In the morning, charity is due on every joint bone of the body of everyone of you. Every utterance of Allah’s glorification (i.e. saying Subhan Allah) is an act of charity, and two rak’ah duha prayers which one performs in the forenoon is equal to all this (in reward).” – Muhammad
If one has good manners, one may attain the same level of merit as those who spend their night in prayer. – Muhammad
Fear the pleading prayer of a wronged one, for there is no veil between it and Allah. – Muhammad
During prayer, God lifts the veils and opens the gates of the invisible, so that His servant is standing in front of Him. The prayer creates a secret connection between the one praying and the One prayed to. – Muhammad
Do not delay the funeral prayer [al Janaza] once the body is ready. – Muhammad
Prayer is a threshold at the entrance to God’s reality. – Muhammad
Praying has seventy parts, the most important and biggest of which is lawful (Halal) earning. – Muhammad
Proceed slowly towards your ambitions. – Muhammad
Prudence is to expect the worst. – Muhammad
Purity is half of faith, and the praise of Allah fills the scale. Glorification and praise fill up what is between the heavens and the earth. Prayer is a light, charity is proof, and patience is illumination. The Qur’an is a proof for you or against you. All people go out early in the morning and sell themselves, either setting themselves free or destroying themselves. – Muhammad
The most praised deeds in Allah’s regard is performing prayers (Salat) on their due time. – Muhammad
A man walking along a path felt very thirsty. Reaching a well, he descended into it, drank his fill, and came up. Then he saw a dog with its tongue hanging out, trying to lick up mud to quench its thirst. The man said, “This dog is feeling the same thirst that I felt.” So he went down into the well again, filled his shoe with water, and gave the dog a drink. So, God thanked him and forgave his sins.} The Prophet was asked, “Messenger of God, are we rewarded for kindness towards animals?” He said: {There is a reward for kindness to every living animal or human.
God does not judge you according to your appearance and your wealth, but He looks at your hearts and looks into your deeds. – Muhammad
None of you believes (completely) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself. – Muhammad
Pay the worker his wage before his sweat dries. – Muhammad
A good word is charity. – Muhammad
Smiling at your brother is charity… – Muhammad
The believers, in their love, mercy, and kindness to one another are like a body: if any part of it is ill, the whole body shares its sleeplessness and fever. – Muhammad
The merciful are shown mercy by the All-Merciful. Show mercy to those on earth, and God will show mercy to you. – Muhammad
The most perfect of the believers in faith are the best of them in morals. And the best among them are those who are best to their wives. – Muhammad
Whoever believes in God and the Last Day (the Day of Judgment) should do good to his neighbor. – Muhammad
On Jesus
The Hour will not be established until the son of Mary (i.e. Jesus) descends amongst you as a just ruler, he will break the cross, kill the pigs, and abolish the Jizya tax. Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it (as charitable gifts). – Muhammad
What would you do when the son of Mary would descend and lead you? – Muhammad
Jesus son of Mary would then descend and their (Muslims’) commander would invite him to come and lead them in prayer, but he would say: No, some amongst you are commanders over some (amongst you). This is the honour from Allah for this Ummah. – Muhammad

Everywhere, in mountains, or in the plains, in towns and in waste places, in deserts, and wheresoever they may be, that people shall be protected, both in their faith and in their property, both in the West and in the East, both on sea and land.
