Healing is the process of the restoration of health from an unbalanced, diseased, damaged or unvitalized organism. The result of healing can be to cure to a health challenge, but one can grow without being cured or heal without “a cure”.

It is also referred to in the context of the grieving process.

In psychiatry and psychology, healing is the process by which neuroses and psychoses are resolved to the degree that the client is able to lead a normal or fulfilling existence without being overwhelmed by psychopathological phenomena. This process may involve psychotherapy, pharmaceutical treatment or alternative approaches such as traditional spiritual healing.

Prayer For Healing #1

Loving, merciful, gentle God, you know the suffering
of your people. Please look with your gracious goodness
on those who suffer, give them the grace and courage
they need, fill them with your love. Help them to
understand that though their suffering is great, your love
is even greater. Strengthen their faith in that love so
they may know that you are with them in their suffering. Amen.

Prayer For Healing #2

Dear Lord,

You invite all who are burdened to come to You. Allow Your healing hand to heal me. Touch my soul with Your compassion for others. Touch my heart with Your courage and infinite love for all. Touch my mind with Your wisdom, that my mouth may always proclaim Your praise. Teach me to reach out to You in my need, and help me to lead others to You by my example. Dear God, bring me health in body and spirit that I may serve You with all my strength. Touch gently this life which You have created, now and forever. Amen.

Prayer For Healing #3

Dear Lord,

You are my deliverer, the true physician. I put myself into your hands. Help me to resolve to put all my trust in you alone and to patiently undergo any treatment. If you will not heal me, my Savior, my case is beyond hope. But if I am to be healed, it is you, Lord, who will heal me. You alone uproot the sickness and give me lasting health. You are my salvation and life, my comfort and glory, my hope in this world and my crown in the world to come. Amen.

Prayer For Healing #4

Dear Lord,

I thank You that You are the Great Physician.

I praise You that it is Your desire that all be made whole. I thank You that You are so personal, so loving and that You care about all my needs. You desire to heal me spiritually, emotionally, as well as physically. I praise You for Your mighty power. I thank You that You are sovereign, all knowing and that You are present here with me through Your Holy Spirit.

Lord, I thank You that all my needs are met through faith in Your Holy Names. I accept Your provision for my wholeness through faith in Him. I repent and ask for Your forgiveness for the times I turn to other sources for water, for digging my own wells. I thank you that when I drink deeply from Your well of Living Water, I will not hunger or thirst, but will be satisfied with true wholeness. Teach me, O LORD, to drink only from YOUR well.

Lord, I pray for wholeness in my relationships. I forgive___________ for the pain he/she caused me. I release him/her and pray Your richest blessing on his/her life. Forgive me for the unforgiveness I have harbored against him/her.

Now God, thank You for this time of Prayer and may Your peace flood my soul with the joy of the Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Healing #5

Lord, I am struggling. Sickness is not your design. Where my mind and body struggle to function the way they’re designed to do, I ask for healing. May you bring health to every cell. I don’t know if I’ll ever live fully well while on this earth, but I ask for wholeness in every way possible.

When my mind spirals and my thoughts are filled with negative things, nudge me towards you and what you have for me instead. Strengthen my mind.

Give me guidance to know where to turn for help when I need it. Give me strength to endure difficult processes that lead to greater freedom and healing in body and soul. I ask for your powerful healing touch in my body. Help me trust you whether healing comes the way I want it or not. Amen.

A Prayer for Healing and Grace

Dear God,
We confess our need for you today. We need your healing and your grace. We need hope restored. We need to be reminded that you work on behalf of those you love, constantly, powerfully, completely. Forgive us for trying to fix our situations all on our own. Forgive us for running all different directions and spinning our wheels to find help, when true help and healing must be found first in You. Forgive us for forgetting how much we need you, above everyone and everything else. We come to you and bring you the places we are hurting. You see where no one else is able to fully see or understand. You know the pain we’ve carried. The burdens. The cares. You know where we need to be set free. We ask for your healing and grace to cover every broken place. Every wound. Every heartache. Thank you that you are Able to do far more than we could ever imagine. Thank you for your Mighty Power that acts on behalf of your children. We reach out to you, and know that you are restoring and redeeming every place of difficulty, every battle, for your greater glory. Thank you that you will never waste our pain and suffering. We love you. We need you today.  In Jesus’ Name, Amen

A Prayer for Healing Sick Family and Friends

Lord Jesus, thank you that you love [name of person who needs healing]. I know that you hate what their illness is doing to them/me. I ask that you would heal this disease, that you would have compassion and bring healing from all sickness.

A Prayer to Take Good Care of Your Body

Lord, thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Help me to live out that knowledge by treating my body well and realizing it is Your temple where You dwell. Don’t let me talk poorly about how I look, how much I weigh, and how disappointed I am in my physical characteristics or abilities, but to praise You for being my all-knowing, all-capable Creator and Sustainer. Help me and my children to see that maintaining our health, as well as keeping ourselves sexually pure, is a form of worship (Romans 12:1).

A Prayer to Break Dysfunctional Patterns

Lord, thank You that when I am trusting in Christ alone, I am a new creation; the old things (about who I used to be) are gone and the new things (that represent who I am in You) are come (2 Corinthians 5:17). When I start to revert back to old patterns or hear old tapes playing in my mind, remind me that I have left that life at the cross when I died to self. Help me to remember that “I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me” (Galatians 2:20). Please don’t let my children repeat the mistakes I’ve made, but remind them that they, too, are new in Christ Jesus when they surrender their lives to You.

Prayer to Jesus For Healing

O Jesus,
I am grateful for
your mercy and compassion.
You healed all those,
that approached you in faith.
In your suffering and death,
you redeemed my infirmities
and those of the human race.
I join my suffering to yours,
and ask for your healing mercy.
Give me the strength and courage
to overcome all adversities. Amen.

Thanksgiving For Healing

Father,
You watch over your children,
with your tender and loving care.
I thank you this day
for your mercy and grace.
I am grateful for your healing power,
and for the abundant blessings
you have given me.
But most of all,
I am thankful for
the promise of salvation,
given through your Son, our Lord.
Through him, when all is completed,
there will be no more sickness or pain.
I pray in his name. Amen.
