Guidance is a light kindled in someone by God as a result of his or her use of free will in the way of belief. As we affirmed earlier, only God can guide to the truth. Since it is God Who guides, we implore Him in every turn of our daily prescribed prayers, saying:
“Guide us to the Straight Path.”
God is more than willing to give us a helping hand whenever we need it. All we have to do is ask. It’s the asking that often dissuades people, as they’re not sure if He will hear them or if they should really ask. Remember that God is immortal and all powerful and He wants you to follow His path, which means he will happily give you some directions and guidance. All you have to do is remain open to the guidance He provides. In some cases, it’s not what you expect or even want, but it is different from anything you anticipated. In these cases, it’s important to realize that it is God’s will and His plan for you is going forward.

A Prayer for the Wisdom and Guidance of the Holy Spirit
Father, in the Name of Jesus, I realize that as a believer, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My acknowledgment of Your presence on a daily basis makes my faith in You effectual. I believe that You, heavenly Father, are leading and guiding me by the Holy Spirit through my spirit, and illuminating my mind.
As I yield to the Holy Spirit, I believe that my steps are ordered of You, LORD. I commit and trust myself wholly to Your guidance, expecting You to cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will, so my plans will be established and succeed. I trust in You, LORD, with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. As I acknowledge You, You direct me in paths of righteousness.
I confess that as I become more God-inside minded, I can more easily recognize the inward witness of the Holy Spirit. I hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, and a stranger’s voice I will not follow. I am aware that my spirit is the candle of The LORD.
I meditate in The WORD day and night, not letting it depart from my mouth. I test my inward witness with The WORD, for the Spirit and The WORD agree. I am quick to act on The WORD, as well as the prompting of my spirit. I am not a hearer only, but also a doer. Therefore, I am blessed in all my deeds.

Help me to truly believe that and live by it so my children will place their confidence in You, as well.

Lord, help me to be thankful in all circumstances, not just the ones that are comfortable and enjoyable. Help me to especially be thankful in the difficult situations so my children see me as a person full of praise, not self pity. Whenever I praise You, it changes my perspective and focuses me on the good things You are doing in the midst of the troubles. Help my kids to see that. As I dress, let me wear the armor you’ve provided daily: the helmet of salvation, the breastplate of righteousness, the shield of faith, the belt of truth, the shoes of peace, and the sword of the spirit—with prayer on my tongue: praise for you and petitions for those around me and those I meet.
Feed me today with your daily bread. As the Bread of Life, your food, like manna, will sustain me throughout any trials and hungers. Help me to set my thoughts on things above and to speak only what will help and encourage others. Keep me from putting my foot in my mouth, and help me guard the affections of my heart today, Lord. Make whatever work I do be marked with excellence rather than perfectionism, as I seek not to make a name, but to make a difference. Help me to treat each person I encounter as you would, with respect and love, forgiving others and asking for forgiveness myself when needed.
As I start this day, help me remember that I belong to you, and my desire is to act accordingly. Keep my feet from stumbling and my mind from wandering into distractions that could steal precious time and energy from the most important things you have designed for me. I’m proud to be your child, Lord. And I’m so grateful that you died for me—rising again on your own new morning—so that every day could be filled with the wonder of your love, the freedom of your Spirit, and the joy of knowing you.

O Lord,
give you my worries and concerns and I ask for your guidance. You see it all, the outer circumstances, the inner turmoil. I know that you understand my life, that sometimes my heart weighs heavy with trouble. Right now I lay all these things before you. I breathe in, safe in the knowledge that I am held by grace. I breathe out, knowing that I am held secure in your arms. And I wait on you. For you are all truth, you are overflowing love, you are a beacon of hope and a fortress of faith.

Lord Jesus, today we ask that you give our brother/sister the wisdom to know what to do in this difficult work situation. Thank You heavenly Father that Your mercies are new every morning and that Your faithfulness never fails. Thank You that You are interested in every area of my life and that despite my many faults and failings You have promised to lead and to guide in all things.
