Fill My Cup, Lord

There are many poems called “Fill My Cup Lord“. These poems are inspired by John 4:1-30, Psalm 81:10, and Psalm 23:5 from the Bible.

What Does “Fill Your Cup” mean?

To fill your cup means to replenish those stores of mental, emotional, and physical energy. It means that you need to stop and recharge your batteries. You would not expect a device to run with a depleted battery, would you? A device cannot run when the battery has no energy to give. While you are much more valuable than any device, you do not run so well on depleted batteries either. You have to fill your cup.

When Jesus met the woman at the well, she had been seeking things of the world to satisfy her thirst (her desires). Jesus offered her living water that she may thirst no more. He offered her the free gift of salvation. So many people in the world are seeking someone or something that can fill their earthly cravings. People try to obtain or buy pleasures that will fill a gap, a hole within themselves. Going from one thing to another thing, hoping this time it will work. But Jesus is the only treasure that can fill us and satisfy us for eternity. When our soul searches for something or someone that can quench our hunger, Jesus is there with open arms. He wants to fill our cups (our lives) with His living water. I challenge each of us to read and visualize this song. Let Christ minister to you through it. Take time to read the words of your favorite songs and look for the message God gave to their authors.

Fill My Cup Lord

I offer you my cup of stress that you may fill it with quietness.
I offer you my cup of criticism that you may fill it with
encouragement.
I offer you my cup of resentment that you may fill it with
forgiveness.
I offer you my cup of fear and worry and control that you may fill it
with trust.
I offer you my cup of loneliness and selfishness that you may give
me your cup of communion.
I offer you my cracked and crumbling cup that you may remold me
and make me strong.
I offer you my cup of pain, the cup you know too well.
Fill my cup with thanksgiving and hope that someday my cup of
tears will be filled with joy.
I surrender my cup to you that you may fill it with service and the
sweetness of your presence.
I offer my cup of me that it may be filled to overflowing with you.

I am downing, need help

Fill My Cup Lord

When I am tired and weary
And I have lost my zeal,
Fill my cup Lord;
For I long to do thy will.

When I get discouraged,
And my spirit needs to be renewed,
Fill my cup Lord
So my soul may be rescued.

When I am tempted by
Satan and one of his schemes,
Fill my cup Lord;
So that I may see your
Light as it brightly beams.

When sickness and sorrow
Comes my way,
Fill my cup Lord
For, I know that you’re in control
And they’ll not forever stay.

Now, when I’ve resisted any
Temptations to do wrong,
You’ve filled my cup Lord!
For, you abide in me and I in you;
You’ve made me strong!

Fill My Cup Lord

Lord I lift my cup to you
Fill it up Lord I pray
Fill it up with love
And send it here today

Fill it with compassion Lord
So I can pass it on
Fill me with the peace of God
And fill my heart with song

Fill it with understanding Lord
That Thy will I might see.
Fill me with a hunger Lord
To win more souls for Thee

Lord as I lift my cup to You
Fill it Lord today
Come sweet Holy Spirit
And fill my soul to stay

Fill My Cup, Lord

This is a hymn.

Like the woman at the well I was seeking
For things that could not satisfy;
And then I heard my Savior speaking:
“Draw from my well that never shall run dry”.

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more–
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

There are millions in this world who are craving
The pleasures earthly things afford;
But none can match the wondrous treasure
That I find in Jesus Christ my Lord.

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more–
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!

So, my brother, if the things this world gave you
Leave hungers that won’t pass away,
My blessed Lord will come and save you,
If you kneel to Him and humbly pray:

Fill my cup Lord, I lift it up, Lord!
Come and quench this thirsting of my soul;
Bread of heaven, Feed me till I want no more–
Fill my cup, fill it up and make me whole!
