A Teacher’s Prayer #1

Lord, let me be just what they need.
If they need someone to trust, let me be trustworthy.
If they need sympathy, let me sympathize.
If they need love, (and they do need love),
let me love, in full measure.

• Let me not anger easily, Lord but let me be just.
Permit my justice to be tempered in your mercy.
When I stand before them, Lord, let me look strong and good
and honest and loving.

• And let me be as strong and good and honest and
loving as I look to them.
Help me to counsel the anxious,
crack the covering of the shy, temper the
rambunctious with a gentle attitude.

• Permit me to teach only the truth.
Help me to inspire them so that learning will not cease
at the classroom door.

• Let the lessons they learn make their lives fruitful and happy.
And, Lord, let me bring them to You.
Teach them through me to love You.
Finally, permit me to learn the lessons they teach. Amen.

Enable me to teach with WISDOM for I help to shape the mind.
Equip me to teach with TRUTH for I help to shape the conscience.
Encourage me to teach with VISION for I help to shape the future.
Empower me to teach with LOVE for I help to shape the WORLD.

A Teacher’s Prayer #2

God,
I have a desire to help children grow, develop, and learn. Kids are filled with hope, awe, and wonder and they fill me up, but God, this job is hard sometimes. kids will often disrespect me and make my job Difficult. In those moments, help me to have the sight to step back, take a breath and see deeper things that may be going on. help me to love these kids like you’ve loved the little children. help me to have wisdom and discernment that can only come from you. God, will you please be the source of my strength for this important job I have? empower me in this ministry of teaching that I have been called to by you. I am a very important person to the kids I teach and I want to be a shining example of you to them, through my actions, words, and even my inner thoughts. help me to take on your strength and love as the source of my support in the classroom. Equip me to be an even better teacher. Amen.

A Prayer for Teachers

Dear God,
Grant our teachers an abundance of Your wisdom. Prepare their hearts to welcome and love our loved ones, and may we make sure to show them love and respect in return. Give them grace as they help students who aren’t thriving, courage to say what needs to be said, tools and knowledge on how and when to speak love, and strength when they feel weak. When they feel unseen, remind them that no moment goes unnoticed. They are shaping the future in one million small – yet incredibly important – ways every day. We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the gift of learning they share with our children. Bless them, Lord, and may they see even just a glimpse of how their faithfulness will forever impact generations to come.
Amen.

A Teacher’s Prayer #3

Help me to be a fine teacher, to keep peace in the classroom, peace between my students and myself, to be kind and gentle to each and every one of my students. Help me to be merciful to my students, to balance mercy and discipline in the right measure for each student, to give genuine praise as much as possible, to give constructive criticism in a manner that is palatable to my students. Help me to remain conscientious enough to keep my lessons always interesting, to recognize what motivates each of my students, to accept my students’ limitations and not hold it against them. Help me not to judge my students too harshly, to be fair to all, to be a good role model, but most of all Lord help me to show your love to all of my students.
Amen.

A Teacher’s Prayer #4

Father, please fill me with your understanding as I instruct others,
Help me to see the individual potential of every student I teach.
Father, please fill me with your patience as I teach others,
Help me to keep giving of my time and energy, especially to those who struggle the most.
Father, please give me your divine wisdom as I am with my class,
Show me when I must discipline and when I can show mercy.
Father, help me to depend totally on You,
For You are the source of my strength, courage and peace.

Father, above all, may I love and care for each student I teach.
Show me how to serve as Christ serves
Give as Christ gives
Love as Christ loves.

I ask all this in the precious name of Jesus,
My Saviour and friend.

Amen.

A prayer suitable for a teacher to pray for their own work and students

I BELIEVE, LORD.

I believe that each of my students is your child.
I believe that they are a reflection of your love.

I believe that each child possesses special gifts and talents,
that you are entrusting me to help them discover these gifts
and nurture those talents.

I believe that each child is trying to find you,
And that I can be a model of how to look,
How to live, how to pray.

I believe that my job is actually a mission, a ministry;
That you have chosen me in this time and in this place
To be there for these kids.

I believe that there is nothing haphazard about my day,
About my experiences with my students or with their parents.
It is all part of your plan.

I believe that you have chosen me, Lord.
I believe.

A Teacher’s Prayer #5

I want to teach my students how–
To live this life on earth,
To face its struggles and its strife
And to improve their worth.

Not just the lesson in a book,
Or how the rivers flow,
But to choose the proper path,
Wherever they may go.

To understand eternal truth,
And know right from wrong,
And gather all the beauty of
A flower and a song,

For if I help the world to grow
In wisdom and grace,
Then I feel that I have won
And I have filled my place.

And so I ask your guidance, God
That I may do my part,
For character and confidence
And happiness of heart.

A Teacher’s Prayer #6

O Lord,
Grant me your strength, so I will have courage in every situation;
Grant me your love, so I may love others as you love me;
Grant me your knowledge, so I will show others the path to wisdom;
Grant me your mercy, so I will forgive those who have hurt me;
Grant me your peace, so I will find the best in everybody;
Grant me your hope, so I will never give up;
Grant me your joy, so I will be thankful for all my blessings;
Grant me your kindness, so I will treat others as they want to be treated;
And Grant me your grace, so you will always be at my side. Amen
